. . . regularly applying one's time, attention, or self to matters of holiness.

This can be spending regular time reflecting on the life of a saint or a passage in the Bible or Catechism.  Or it can involve visiting the Blessed Sacrament once a week.   It can also mean befriending someone who is sick or alone.  Or it can also include teaching at Sunday School.  It can mean putting in extra effort towards properly parenting your children.  Or it can mean putting in the effort to stop a bad habit.

The point of devotion is to move beyond what you would normally do in your daily routines and habits and self preoccupations, to respond to God's grace and calling.  Some would call these acts of sacrifice.   Take some time to reflect on what God might be calling you to do and go for it.

Here are some other ideas. This list will be updated periodically.

- Pray a novena, asking for a saint's intercession
- Pray the rosary daily
- Spend regular time at the Blessed Sacrament
- Get to know a senior citizen who is shut-in and visit that person regularly
- Visit those sick in the hospital or at home regularly
- Contribute your time, money or talents regularly to the poor
- Attend Mass daily
- Become a pen-pal of someone in prison
- Bring meals to those who cannot cook for themselves
- Teach CCD (Sunday School)
- Share your musical talents at church or with those sick or shut in.
- Read the Bible daily with the aim of reading it cover-to-cover in a set      period of time.
- Read the Catholic Catechism daily
- Attend a Catechism or Bible class at your local church
