2nd Annual Men's SportsCamp SC2001 is Sold Out It's going to be an awesome event this year. Way-ta-go SC Staff! If you didn't get a chance to sign up, you may want to drop the staff an email (SportsCamp2001@yahoo.com) to let them know you are interested in next year's event.
Why SportsCamp? Childhood memories of many men with same sex attractions are filled with embarrassment and trauma. We offer a safe and supportive environment for men to learn the rules, practice their skills and compete with their teammates in softball, flag football, and basketball.
Every man is welcome regardless of skill, sports, knowledge, or physical condition. Everyone is assigned to a team and everybody gets to play. But that doesn't mean the teams are not competitive.
The Stats
Just ask the Lions, last year's SportsCamp 2000 champions who won a close victory 2 games to 1 over the hard playing Dolphins. In a hard won battle the Coliseum Lions took the day in Baseball. The Good Samaritan Dolphins battled back and took their revenge in flag football. In a grueling grudge match, the fate of the rivalry was decided in the final court of basketball. A stunning victory gave the C-MAC title to the Coliseum Lions and their captain, Sean of New York. In an unconfirmed report, the Washington group, a Dolphin strong hold, have taken to regular Saturday scrimmages. An anonymous source says, "I'm just telling you, man those Lions better watch their furry backs." Not Me Johnny! "When I first heard about SportsCamp, I though, 'Me? Yikes! Not in a million years.' But I got curious, and man I had the time of my Life!" says Steve from New York. Knocked my socks off! " I was really blown away by the incredible hospitality of the entire event." said Greg of Virginia. "I was encouraged on and off the field. The organizers though of every detail, from meeting me at the door to the welcome pack awaiting me in my room. I really knew I was wanted." Didn't wanna, wasn't gonna "I really didn't want to play", recalls Sean of Long Island, "but I got in a game and was surprised that I was bonding to this group in a different way. I really think it's important to have a safe, non-threatening place to play, be bad and just have fun." Initiative "I was impressed not only by the initiative, " but also on their emphasis on solid devotions and prayer," said Fr. Harvey, "I hope 2001 Sports Odyssey is even more successful!" Ya Gotta Have Heart! Basketball instructor, Joe from the Bronx said, "Ya sure, I've seen more skilled players before, well all right, it was down right ugly out there, nut man, I've never seen the game played with more heart!" Come celebrate the thrill of the game with us! What Else?
